The Struggle Is Real

Are you Struggling finding wide calf boots that fit?

For plus size women the struggle to find boots that fit is and annual reminder of the real struggle plus size women face to be as fashionable as regular sizes women.   Some boots marked wide or extended calf are still not quite right.  They don’t stretch enough or are not cut well.   Often you can zip them up but they end up slouched down and are more of a mid-calf boot.   Recently I was shopping the web and came across some amazing and affordable options.    All options are not equal.  Here are a few tips and some of our picks to help.

Tip#1
You need to make sure you measure your calf at the widest point and before your purchase verify the measurements at the widest part of the boot shaft.

Tip # 2
Wear socks when you are trying on boots.  They are made to be worn with socks.  Try something like this great plus size boot sock.

Here are a couple of our favorite wide calf boots.

The Willow Wide Calf Boot from Maurice’s comes in brown, grey, or black.  The insert of stretch material on the back side really helps them fit well.  Click on the image to shop now. OMG- This is my new favorite!

Did someone say riding boots?  Check out this sassy pair or riding boots we found at Payless Shoe Source.   The mix of the faux suede and faux leather give it a high end look at bargain prices.

We hope sharing these finds help some of you complete your winter wardrobe.  Send us pics of you rocking your new boots  and we will publish in our post holiday fashion round up.

How to Wear the Black and White Trend This Fall

Bold black and white fashion rocked the Fall runways of big designers like Hervé Léger and Carolina Herrera earlier this year.  From clean and classic silhouettes to bold graphic prints, it’s one of the hottest trends this season.  With the holidays coming around the corner, we curvy fashionistas want to show up in style!  So how can we take this trend off the runway and wear it in real life?

Dresses
The easiest way to rock this trend, you should look for a dress with a bold black and white print in a style that flatters your curves.  All you need to complete your look is a pair of black shoes and your favorite piece of jewelry.  Don’t go crazy on the accessories.  You want your dress to be the star of the show!

Perfectly Paired Separates
If bold prints aren’t your thing, go the chic and classic route with black and white separates. A crisp black shirt with winter white pants, a black and white striped cardigan layered over a black turtleneck, or a white cowl neck sweater with black jeans are just a few stylish ideas!

Accessories
Don’t want to invest in the trend but still want to have fun with it?  Accessories are the way to go! Fashion jewelry like black and white bangles or chandeliers can dress up any little black dress.  Tuxedo heels with a black suit or a checkered handbag to rock with your weekend wear – anything goes when it comes to choosing trendy accessories.  As with all things, too much of a good thing could spell a fashion disaster so don’t go too crazy!

Our Tips For Looking Great in Anything

Our Tips For  Looking Great in Anything

Year-end means time for New Year’s Eve.   That one special night where we celebrate with friends and family the years that has passed and celebrate the future the New Year holds.   With parties just days away many plus size women are in a deep panic about what to wear and how they can look their best.    Don’t fret we have  tips to help look great no matter what you are wearing.

Tip #1 Confidence Rules

Want to be the hottest girl in the room no matter what your size or what you are wearing.  Hold your head high, shoulders back, and walk with confidence.

Tip # 2 Get the Right Support

A good bra and the right shape wear can make you looks sizes smaller and help give you a seamless look.  If you have not already done it use this as motivation to get a bra fitting.  Trust the professionals!    Don’t be afraid of shape wear.  Today’s shape wear is less binding and does not have wires or boning.   Spanx is the best and is worth every penny.

Tip #3 Smile

Your best accessory is your smile.   Whiten you teeth and show the world your smile.    Try one of the two hour whitening kits to get you party ready in no time.

Looking great while getting fit

Let’s face it gyms and activewear traditionally are not very Plus friendly.    Walking into the gym in over sized sweats and a baggy t-shirt doesn’t make you feel any better.  We have found a new line of activewear that will have you looking stylish and feeling work out ready.  It’s so cute you may even be the envy of the size 2 gym members.

Taffy is a hot new activewear  line designed specifically for plus size woman. All tops and bottoms are tailored to fit and flatter a woman's curves. Taffy combines fashion and function effortlessly in order for you to get as much enjoyment from your outfit – and workout – as possible.
Taffy's  concept is simple: when you feel good about how you look, you work out harder. Their mission is to help plus size women feel confident about the way they look in activewear. Whatever their goal, curvy women can look stylish and attractive as they lead healthier, more active lives.

" Lucky Brand" Now In Plus Size

The wait is over!   Plus size shoppers can now enjoy premium denim and style from Lucky Brand. In Late June in a WWD article  CEO Dave DeMattei said  in a statement  "We are particularly excited for the launch of this collection as we recognized a void in the plus-size marketplace for an accessible, premium denim, . Our goal is to be inclusive of all body types when creating clothing."

The line launched this July and is already flying off the rack.  Yesterday I stopped in a Nordstorm location to check out the line and try on the Ginger jeans.  Love them!  Just the right  amount of stretch to hug your curves.   They come in straight, skinny , and boot cut in a variety of colors. The collection also includes 75 tops.   One my favorites for fall is this cute leopard cardigan. Where can you find Lucky Brand Plus Size? Macys and Nordstrom stores and online. The pieces range from $49-$129.
